Application and Admission

There is one application period per year to join the MSc. IMES Program. The application period opens in early March, and closes on May 15th. The program always begins in Winter Semester (October 1st) for TU Berlin applicants.

(Only University Twente Double Degree applicants can be nominated through their program to begin in Summer).

The application deadline for the Winter Semester 2021/22 intake is May 15th.

Application Results will not be available until August 2021.

Digital applications/documents are sufficient for the preliminary application evaluation. Applicants should not mail any original /certified documents unless they are requested for verification by Uni-Assist or the Graduate Admissions Office.

How to apply?

    German University Students - Apply directly at TU Berlin

    Students who have obtained or will obtain their first university degree at a German university (including TU Berlin) should apply directly to TU Berlin as of now. All current information on the application process can be found at the link below:

     

    International Students - Apply via Uni-Assist:

    Students who have obtained their first degree at a University outside of Germany, must apply via Uni-Assist.

    • There is special information for certain countries. Read more here.
    • Uni-Assist checks your application on formal completeness. Please note that the closer the deadline is, the less chance you will have to clarify any missing documents.
    • Uni-assist charges handling fees for the processing and evaluation of each application which must be paid by the applicant. TU Berlin does not pay the handling fees of their applicants.
    • The application fee is currently 75€. 

     

    Please note: The selection of your double degree partner university will be done during your first semesters at TU Berlin. Please see the partner overview to understand the study seat limitations. University of Twente has a tuition fee. You should consider the requirements of the program: a 1 year study abroad (outside of Germany) at a partner university, and your motivation, capability, and financial ability to meet these study requirements.

     

     

    Required Documents List

    There are only 50 study seats in the program so a selection must be made.

    To be considered in the selection process of the MSc. IMES program, the following documents have to be submitted. Please also follow the instructions on the TU direct application page and Uni-Assist site for additionally requested documents (e.g. ID, current enrollment, unenrollment, etc.)

    UPLOAD: University degree certificate including subjects, grades and credit points (Bachelor, Diplom, Magister, Staatsexamen or equivalent) as officially certified copy, international degree certificate with translations. It has to be a first university degree in the fields of economics (this includes business administration), social sciences, engineering sciences, natural sciences or any related study program.

    UPLOAD: Applicants must provide proof of their proficiency in English at the C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) which may not be older than 4 years. The certificate has to be submitted as an original or certified copy. The following attests are accepted (minimum requirements in brackets):

    • TOEFL Internet-based Test Score (min. 95 Points) Can be sent from ETS to uni-assist directly via institution code: 2727.
    • IELTS- Academic Module (Level: min. Band 7.0) Upload with the verification code.
    • ZEMS C1 CEFR English for Academic Purposes: Current TU Berlin students only. Certificates must be submitted with your application before the deadline.
    • UNIcertBusiness English – (min. level III)
    • University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations: (min. Certificate in Advanced English - CAE, Grade C; Certificate in Proficiency in English - CPE, Grade C)
    • ***Test Results often have a long waiting time. Please schedule your exam 3 months before the May 15th deadline to ensure the availability of results. Late submissions of any language proficiency test will not be considered.
    • Bachelor Program Exclusively Taught in English: If you have completed your Bachelor Degree in a study program that was exclusively taught in English at the C1 level (CEFR) or higher, you may be granted an English proficiency test waiver. Verifiable evidence that clearly  and sufficiently highlights these requirements should be submitted to ensure approval. (e.g. signed letter from the Dean, diploma supplement, etc.)
    • Native English: If your first language is English, you may be granted a proficiency test waiver if you submit a sworn statement confirming English as your Family Mother Tongue, signed by one witness (e.g. Public Notary). This is only accepted from countries where the primary language is English.

    UPLOAD: Motivation letter and your CV that shows your qualification and give evidence of good interpersonal, communication and team-working skills and a high interest in the field of entrepreneurship, innovation management, and sustainability.

    UPLOAD: Please identify the courses that you believe fulfill the admission requirements (5 knowledge areas), using the provided Declaration Form, and mark them on the transcript copy as well.

    UPLOAD: For applicants currently studying in Germany: Current certificate of enrollment including the amount of terms of studying (Fachsemester) or certificate of exmatriculation of the previous German university including the amount of terms of studying (Fachsemester) and terms at a German university (Hochschulsemester).

    UPLOAD: Simple copy of your passport.

    Please only submit course descriptions for the courses that intend to demonstrate your suitability for the program (5 subject-related knowledge areas). Please do not submit more than 50 pages when possible.

    Deadlines are not flexible, please plan ahead.
