St. Petersburg Polytechnic University


The university is considered to be one of the top research facilities in Russian Federation and CIS member states and is a leading educational facility in the field of applied physics and mathematics, industrial engineering, chemical engineering, aerospace engineering and many other academic disciplines. On a national scale, SPbPU in Russian Federation is somewhat akin to Caltech in the United States. Currently SPbPU is ranked among the top 400 in the World.

Recognition Process after Graduation

Your diploma from TU Berlin will be issued within two to three months after the completion of your Master in St Petersburg. The university will send the transcripts to TU Berlin and the examination office will inform you, when they have issued your diploma. They can also send it directly to your address. Please check your address in your student account. The coordinators of IMES are not able to get an access to it. 


In what language I need to send in my application documents?

All documents have to be translated to Russian.

For which visa do I need to apply?

First, you have to receive a single entry visa to enter Russia, when being in Russia the university will organize a on year entry visa.

When is the winterbreak?

It starts before Christmas and usually ends in the first February week.

What kind of internship do I need to do?

You have to do a 1 month internship, which you can do also at any foreign company, but you have to be physically present in Russia.

Do I have to stay one year?

Regarding the second semester it is not neccessary for you to stay in St Petersburg for the whole time. Yet you have to be here during your internship and defence, which takes place in April, May and June.

If you would change your mind after the first semester and only want to receive a single degree, it would be possible to qualify you as an exchange student with corresponding courses for your certificate.

Who will be my second supervisor at TU Berlin?

Your second supervisor at TU Berlin will be automatically allocated by Rike Weber. You don't have to take care about it yourself.
